For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Has anyone been to Shenyang? I could use some advice!

Hey every one, I am thinking about spending upcoming holidays in Shenyang, but since I never been there I was wondering if somebody could recommend me some good places to visit, some exiting things to do and last, but not least a cheap and decent hotel, for less than 150 a night. Can anyone help me ?!?

P.S

I would also help me if any of you feel like sharing your travel experiences with me.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi Fernando - do not know Shenyang that well but have written to a friend who does live thwere for advice/help etc

Will report back.

When are you thinking of going?

BTW - we are planning a shopping trip there next month - check out the events board. I think it is set up for the 30 the April. Join us if you want!

Hi fernando, I can say that Shenyang is a lovely city and that the temples and parks there are definately worth a look.

I ask myself what you actually want to know. Train is the best choice of transport. The fastest train can take just over 2 hours and if you are planning on staying more than a day, I know a great little hotel totally modelled around the Tang dynasty. Its a good quality 3 star hotel for around 250rmb a night and central to everything in Shenyang. If you need help in booking anything, I suggest you contact my colleague (simon) on this website. He has a group called cheap tickets. He could possibly find you the best deals!

Thanks you both, Richards, for you kind comments. I am leaving to Shenyang this 31sth and I was hoping to stay there for about two or four days. I have -obviously- never been there and I was wondering if some one could recommend some good places to visit -besides the most obvious places- and more importantly some good places to eat!

Thanks, I have already contacted Simon! By the way, where is this Tang dynasty hotel?  I have to admit that 250 is a little over my budget, but I would not mind sleeping there for at least one night. do they have an webpage?

These are the Fortune. Tang hotel websites I found. I also found it cheaper on the Chinese booking sites!

When I search Hotels, I just input "cheap hotels in Shenyang" into Google. Start at the top!!
