For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

Changchun Friends

a great way to get involved

Anyone interested in Tae Kwon Do? If so, lessons are starting this Saturday and Sunday (9:00 AM - 10:30 AM) in the gym at Changchun University. The cost is 180 RMB per semester. That's right, 180 RMB per semester. If you want or need a uniform, it's only an extra 100 RMB (I will confirm that and add it on tomorrow). Your first semester will be 280 RMB (with the uniform) and 180 RMB for each semester after that. If you are interested, let me know.

Hello,

i see this post is from 2011, but who knows? Is this class for children or for adults? I would be interested for my daughter. Thanks a lot!

These classes are mainly for adults, Alina. There is a gym behind the Hua Yuan Hotel, very close to Changchun University (at the intersection that separates CCU from Changchun University of S&T), where they have TKD for all ages. I'm not sure, but I think the #306 bus still stops right in front of the hotel. You can inquire about TKD lessons at the front desk of the gym, and if I remember correctly, I believe they have some brochures.

Sorry for my late answer, i was in holidays:)

Thanks a lot.... i will go this week to check. I would like Tae Kwon Do for my daughter.

One more question: do you have any idea about TaiJi or QiQong classes? I have done many years ago and i would be very happy to go on here, in China (even if it would be hard without knowing the language).

Sorry, Alina. I know nothing about TaiJi or QiGong classes. You might want to find a group of people practicing, and just join in. They get a kick out of foreigners who just jump in to learn.  LOL.
