For the most part, the Changchun Friends website is not very active and has been superseded by the Tencent "Wechat" app by the local expat community. This website is maintained sporadically, people may still join and membership is still open, but if you are a spammer, stay away. The archived information here is still useful, but some may be out of date. There are plans to make it more useful for static information in the future. If anyone needs information about Changchun or China, you may post a message and it probably will get a response but not immediately.

We have records going back to the start of civil registration in 1837, and every word is still perfectly…

Though I started with the idea of writing a recommendation on the 20 best Chinese movies in my own eyes, the article turns out to become an introduction to hundreds of thousands of Chinese people’s preference on a website named douban.com, the most popular IMDb-like website in simplified Chinese. With over half of my choices differing from the ones voted by populous douban.com users, I realized that personal choices vary, but mass appeal tells us some cultural, socialogic, aesthetic……

One of his best jokes:
"A football coach, holding a football, asks his quarterback, 'Son, can you pass this?' The player says, 'Coach, I don't even think I can swallow it."'

Loved this article but look at the prices of these cars. The Chinese people are paying through the roof for these luxury cars.
No. 5 - Rolls-Royce Phantom Series II(劳斯莱斯 幻影II)
Estimated price in China: 12 million yuan (US$1,908,000)…

A bus stops and 2 Italian men get on. They sit down and engage in an animated conversation.
The lady sitting next to them ignores them at first, but her attention is galvanized when she hears one of them say the following: “Emma come first. Den I come. Den two asses come together. I come once-a-more! Two asses, they come together again. I come again and pee twice. Then I come one lasta time.”
The lady can't take this any more, “You…

Today I took a visit to Jilin Province Museum to see the Han Dynasty tomb pottery exhibition(157 BC-141 BC) . The museum is located near Children's Park on Renmin Street. It's not big, and only a few people go there. I saw 20-30 staff and securities on one floor while not more than 5 viewers! The exhibition is not as gorgeous as i thought, but is still worth going, and it's free. The figurines are really beautiful and elegant in very simple shapes. If you're interested, you can have a look,…

A question on La Fa Shan (near Jiaohe, 40 miles east of Jilin). Has anyone been here? We are looking into the possibility of hiking there, spending the night in Jiaohe - or closer.
Also, any hotel recommendations?
